Fiction is addictive. Who knows why anyone does it? I've had a lot of critical reviews of books I've published but that doesn't mean there is an audience. Years ago I did a book launch across Canada. Jumping from plane to radio or TV stations to hotels to planes. Sold about a couple hundred copies of the book in all. The reason. It wasn't displayed on enough bookstore shelves. So you can't write for an audience. And yet not writing for an audience seems like a case of self-indulgence. I admit the indulgence. I’ve been writing a long time. Fiction is addictive.
